Kempinski Hotel Corvinus, Budapest

The complete renovation of the entire public area in Budapest’s renowned “Kempinski Hotel Corvinus” was carried out by APPIA with great success.

This included the redesigning of the entrance hall, which now receives guests with an illuminated Cristallux portal, with 1,200 illuminated, shimmering LED spots. The lobby’s imposing staircase with its gigantic, three-dimensionally twisted pillars lends the hall a dramatic, breathtaking appearance of width and height. The Living Room has drawn its inspiration from Budapest’s local coffee-house culture. The promenade leading to the restaurant serves as breakfast area in the morning. The restaurant is reminiscent of a Hungarian inn, with its “vintage look”, white-tiled walls and show kitchen. The “Blue Fox Bar”, a hotspot and homage to Hungarian physicist Ányos Jedlik, amazes with its blue bar-front and elaborate bronze work.

The special challenge for APPIA here was the incredibly short conversion period, in which they were responsible for demolition and gutting up to a height of 9 m and constructing the new rooms, including completing the entire interior. Despite the extensive conversion, the hotel continued its normal operation during the whole of this time, without any great disturbance for the guests.

At the end of March 2013, the hotel was reopened in new splendour, embracing the “four pillars” of the Kempinski philosophy: beauty, gourmet, culture and savoir-vivre.
